A Garden that Gives

Dig In! Yancey Community Garden is working to make sure Yancey County families have access to fresh, nutritious food, and a WNC Bridge Foundation IMPACT grant is helping that work grow.

Through an IMPACT Grant, WNC Bridge is helping Dig In strengthen food security through gardening education and community involvement. Funding supports the Learn and Teach Program, creating more hands-on gardening opportunities, a new children’s garden, and community workshops through Resilience in the Garden.

The grant also helps support the staff who keep these efforts growing, including coordinating volunteers, leading educational programs, and managing garden operations. Dig In expects about 150 volunteers to join and learn in the gardens this year, while teaching more than 100 community members how to grow food and providing fresh, sustainably grown produce at no cost to 200–400 local families each week.

Volunteers come together at Dig In! Yancey Community Garden for hands-on learning and gardening, helping grow fresh food while strengthening food security across Yancey County.
