Thankful for Our Amazing Volunteers
By definition a volunteer is someone who offers to do something, especially a service, without being forced or paid. The act of volunteering involves giving your time and energy to a cause, a community, or an organization voluntarily, often for social responsibility or to help others. It can be used as a noun for the person or a verb for the action of offering one’s services.
Dear Retail Volunteers,
It’s truly an honor to work alongside such an extraordinary group of volunteers. You are the heart and soul of our retail operations, the quiet, steady force that keeps everything moving forward with purpose, compassion, and care.
Some of you have been part of this journey since the very beginning. For over 15 years, you’ve given your time, energy, and hearts, and your dedication still amazes me. And you’re not alone, we’re lucky to have many others who have been with us for more than a decade, showing up week after week, year after year, with such unwavering commitment.
On any given day at the thrift store or estate sales, I might be working alongside anywhere from four to fourteen volunteers. Many of you are here multiple days a week, not because you have to be, but because you care. These aren’t just shifts or tasks, this is a community. Over time, we’ve become more than just teammates; we’ve become friends and honestly, family. We laugh together in the good moments and lean on each other through the tough ones. That kind of connection is rare, and I don’t take it for granted.
People often ask me what I love most about my job. The answer is always easy: it’s the people. And most of those people are you, our volunteers. Your kindness, your generosity, and your deep commitment inspire me every single day.
With Thanksgiving approaching, I’ve been reflecting on the things I’m most grateful for and this amazing group of volunteers is right at the top of that list. Thank you for all that you do, for who you are, and for the incredible impact you make. I am endlessly thankful for each and every one of you.
